Our first site visit revealed that the existing tiling around the Swimming pool had been laid with no falls meaning that there were pools of standing water throughout the pool area. We redesigned the pool surround to incorporate suitable falls using levelling compound and laid floor tiles and matching skirting throughout the area. We discussed the various options available to the client and decided that the best option was to lift up the existing tiles and refit the floor using a combination of new and old tiles. The old tiles were cleaned thoroughly, the floor levelled, old tiles refitted as per the original design and new tiles supplied and fitted to complete the job. The original building was built in the 19th century so one of our main concerns was the lack of a Damp Proof Membrane on the ground floor of the property. As a result a 2 part Liquid DPM was fitted prior to the application of smoothing compound and ultimately a Karndean floor.
